Peranakan Carvings
These beautiful carving are used to adorn our ancestor's Peranakan wedding beds. They have been extracted from the “red-and-gold” furniture, that was usually made of 楠木, from our early ancestor beds that are lacquered in red, black, and even gold.
Some are left down from our ancestors while others were collected over the years. These carvings are painstakingly handcrafted and restored to their original glory. Its motifs depict fertility, auspicious, phoenix, peonies, and even the Eight Immortals in Chinese folklore.

I would like to give top compliments to the Myanmese young lady staff who served my family & I when we dined at Straits Chinese restaurant (Cecil St outlet) this evening (25 Aug 2020) to celebrate my mother’s birthday. Her service was impeccable. She was always so attentive & patient during the whole course of dinner.
Kudos to her excellent customer service! Pls reward her accordingly. Pity I didn’t get hold of her name. We will return to dine again. Thank you.
